Question:
I'm taking Estratest 1.25/2.5 and Medroxyprogesterone - I have little or no sexual drive. Could I use a testostorne cream too? My husband is about ready to leave, he says I never want to have sex & he's right.

First of all you are taking testosterone. Estratest has 1.25 mg of Esterfied Estrogens and 2.5 mg of Methylestosterone. You don’t say how much progesterone you are taking or if you are taking the progesterone daily. I will assume your are taking estratest and progesterone daily. The type of testosterone you are currently taking is oral, and it is metabolized by the liver. This could adversely affect your HDL and LDL cholesterol levels. You may want to talk with your health care provider about taking estrogen and progesterone orally and using testosterone cream, which you apply to your upper thigh or genital region. There is a new testosterone patch being developed for women, but it is still in drug trials. Low sex drive is a very common complaint of women going through perimenopause, when levels of estrogen and progesterone drop suddenly and testosterone, the hormone of desire, may also decrease. Please speak with your health care provider and please let you husband know that this is a very common occurrence during this phase of your life. It is not a reflection on him or you feelings about him. You and your husband might want to focus on some sensual activities. Good luck.
