Question:
I was watching the news the other night and they referred the viewers to this website. They did a piece on sexual dysfunction and said there is a new cream that women with low sexual desire can try that helps by increasing sensitivity. Do you know what they are referring too?

I think what they may have been referring to is testosterone cream. Testosterone is usually associated with only the male sex drive, but it is also responsible for controlling the female sex drive. Small amounts of testosterone and other related androgen hormones are normally made by a females ovaries and adrenal glands. Some physicians have recently begun to prescribe either a 1% or 2% testosterone cream for women that are suffering from decreased sex drives. A small amount of this cream is usually applied to the vaginal area. Most often this treatment is prescribed for post menopausal women or for women who have undergone complete surgical hysterectomies. This cream however needs to be used with caution, as applying too much or applying to often can cause the external female sexual structures to become masculinized.
