Question:
I have a daughter of 12 who started her period approx 5 months ago. She had 2 Periods and then missed 1.5months. Since then she has been constantly bleeding missing just a couple of days in between. Do you think I should put her on the Pill to help regulate or is there something more natural that she can take.

I think that your daughter may be like many young girls whose bodies take months to years to adjust to a normal hormone flow. I would recommend that you talk with a pediatrician whom you trust and ask for his/her advice. The doctor may want to examine your daughter and gather more information about her health history. One of the options may be putting her on a form of the birth control pills which may help regulate the bleeding but you also may want to see if there is anything else that might be contributing. I do not know of anything natural other than some of the herbs women take and since these haven't been researched on children, I would be nervous recommending anything. The best bet is to ask several doctors from a pediatrican to a gyn.
