Question:
Dear Larry,I have a few questions actually. The first has to do with masturbation, atleast a form of it. when i was around 14 i found out that if u lay under the faucet of the bathtub and let it run over ur clitoris it feels extremely good and u can climax in a matter of seconds. i stopped doing this tho, i wasnt sure what kind of effect it would have on me, i know a lot of water going inside ur vagina cant be good, and i wasnt sure if it was stretching out the outside part of my vagina around my clit and all, bc i think it might have made my "lips" get larger but i dont know if they were that size to start out with. should i be concerned about either? next question, in two days im having a friend come home with me, a guy friend. we both want stuff to happen, however im supposed to start my period any day literaly. when messing around would my period go on hold? is there any way at all i can just do something that would make it delay for a couple more days. my period still hasnt really gone on a scedual yet altho ive had it since i was 11, im 15 now. one more question is concerning little bumbs i get from shaving down there. is there anything i can use to make them go away or not come at all? i know its not an std bc it just seems like a rash from shaving. please try and email me back

Thanks for taking the time to write in with your questions. Many women share your passion for pleasuring themselves under the faucet. There's little or no risk of anything negative happening to your vagina from the water; it won't harm your vagina, nor will it stretch out your labia (lips). I don't think you have to worry about water in your vagina. The only time you have to worry about that is if you are forcing water through your cervix and into your uterus, which is very unlikely to happen from pleasuring yourself this way. Feel free to enjoy yourself and know that you can branch out to include the water returns in pools and hot tubs, not to mention using a detachable shower head (or shower massager).

With regard to your other concern, "messing around" will not affect your period; you'll still have it whether you have sex (or fool around) or not. Unfortunately, there's really no way to delay your period. You also mention that your perioid isn't regular after 4 years. You may want to talk with your doctor about this. Many girls begin taking birth control pills to regulate their menstrual cycles. It may be a good option for you.

Concerning the tiny bumps you get when you shave, you're right; they are a shaving rash. This can usually be alleviated by using a good lubricant and new blade when you shave. Hydrocortizone cream may also help get rid of them. You may want to also consider waxing or some other shaving alternative. There are women's shavers that may also help, in addition to an after-shave lotion of some kind (preferably without alcohol or perfumes).

I hope this was of some help to you. Feel free to write back if you have any other questions or concerns. Take care and be well. peace
