Question:
About 4 months ago I noticed a lil bump on the side of my penis, small, smooth, skin colored, no pain, itching, nothing. Looked like a small pimple or mosquito bite. It went away after about 2 weeks so I thought nothing of it. Well a few months later, (August 00) I noticed that a bump had appeared, just like the other one. Being that I don't work, I went to the only place that checks for STD's for free, I was examined maybe for 30 secs and told it was nothing. I was concerned it was a wart and I was reassured it wasn't and that it would go away in a couple of weeks. Well it did, but now another bump appeared, looked just like the other ones, but accept that this one started off as a little white bump first. I have also noticed a few of these white bumps elsewhere now. Mainly at the base of the penis. Being that I was told I didn't have warts the first time, I have been looking all over the net at pictures of genital warts, but all I see are the cauliflower-like ones, not the ones that I keep reading about that can be skin colored and smooth, just like a pimple, and the ones I've seen don't look like what I have...I'm gonna go back to the clinic even though there saying its nothing, but yet they can't tell me what it is...Do you think these could be warts? I'd like to see some pictures of warts, but not advanced cases like I've seen. I'd appreciate a response cause I'm going crazy! This is a big problem because I can't ease my mind, and I'm talking to women that want a relationship, even one that I think might be the "one," but I keep putting her off because I'm afraid if I tell her what's going on it might change how she feels for me.

From what you describe, it sounds like you have the occasional papule, a skin condition, pop up. We have papules appear all over our bodies at times - resembling little white heads. When they appear in the genital region, naturally, they can cause concern, but it seems like you have nothing to worry about. If you'd like to ease your mind, especially since it doesn't sound like you had a very thorough clinic examination, make a second visit to a doctor's office. Ask that the physician to examine the bump(s) using a colposcope (magnifying lens), to better determine the skin condition. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network. Yvonne K.
