Question:
I went to the doctor back in december about 2 bumps i found in my vagina the doctor did a culture test and said that i had a bacterial infection from wiping the wrong way but i was still leary... then a couple of weeks later a noticed another bump and it had gotten bigger i kept an eye on it no change in threee months so finally i started to see other little ones no bigger than pin prics on the area bet5ween my anus and vaginal opening. i went to the doctor about those and she said they were start of warts along with the othere one....well my thoer doctor said the bigger one was nothing so i assumed it was and me and my boyfriend never use protection so if it is warts he has the virus too.....i wanted to get a third opinion so i called around for testings of hpv and no one dose it. but one doctor said all they do is a culture test but i had one and it said no warts???? so i waonder what they could be my bf has no signs of bumps and we have been getiing like pimples on our stomaches and butts and me on my legs and i never get pimples anywhere like that.

I can understand your frustration with all of the different health diagnoses you've been given. Quite honestly, I was a little confused in following your story... With the first doctor you mentioned, when he ran a culture, did he test specifically for HPV (genital warts)? You should find this out, because if he didn't, that would explain the second doctor's findings. To put your mind at ease, it would be best to get a third opinion. Are you located near a Planned Parenthood? If not, find a local family health services center, which should offer STD testing. Furthermore, another specialist you should consider visiting, especially given the body "pimples", is a dermatologist, who can help you to treat any skin condition. And finally, in order to help solve this "mystery", have your boyfriend get tested. After all, if he has HPV, or any other infection for that matter, the two of you need to know! Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network. Yvonne K. Fulbright, MS.Ed.
