Question:
I had genital warts a long time ago which were treated by a doctor. I've never had another outbreak but I understand that I now have HPV. Even though the virus seems to be dormant, can it reoccur at any time? Also in its dormant stage can I still pass it along to someone else?

Genital warts are caused by several subtypes of Human Papilloma Virus, which is dormant in the body between "outbreaks" of warts. Since you've not had any warts for many years, it is likely that you body's immunity is sufficient to keep them in dormancy and therefore its not likle that you will recur anytime soon. Likewise, in order to keep things that way, its a good idea to support your immune system by eating whole grains, fruit and veggies, taking a daily multivit, getting enough rest and exercise, not drinking to excess, not taking illegal drugs or steriods and NOT SMOKING (its one of the worst things for HPV). Theoretically you can "pass' the virus at any time through skin to skin genital contact, although it is a greater likelihood when your virus is activated (when you have active warts) and/or when your partner has compromised immunity his or herself.
