Thanks for writing. I really don't know what they may be, and only upon examination by a doctor will anyone know and be able to diagnose it. There are many possibilities. You could have a sexually transmitted disease which I will talk about below. You could also have irritation from laundry detergent that you wash your underwear in, if you have changed soaps recently. It also may be a reaction to the penicillin, causing the skin chemistry to change. This is actually a common response to antibiotics, and many women even get a yeast infection when they take them.

You mentioned that you had only had intercourse with one person, but that person may have had intercourse with other people and gotten something that he passed on to you. That is why it may be important for you to see a doctor. You want to make sure that it isn't a disease. Painful sores on the genitals could be a sign of herpes, though the herpes sores often go away after a few weeks.

Until you get them checked, and assuming they aren't a disease, they may also be an irritation from regular intercourse. This is actually common for couples having intercourse regularly without enough lubrication. Though a woman's body makes lubrication it often does not make enough for the extended rubbing that takes place during intercourse. One way to relieve that is to use a water-based lubricant such as KY or Astroglide, both easy to find at many stores. You said that you used a cream but you need a much more liquid and slippery substance to take the irritation away.

I hope that you will get it checked out. Since you are using the Pill, you may want to check with your doctor just to be sure that you don't have a condition that can be passed on. Maybe even using highly lubricated latex condoms may be a helpful solution for a few days.

If you have further questions, please feel free to write back.
