Question:
My husband and I were both virgins when we married last week. We had been enjoying really great sex, but decided that for the extended efforts of newlyweds we needed extra lubrication. We chose KY liquid. It worked we until last night. As soon as husband inserted his penis it was like we both were on fire. we ran for the shower. Once rinsed we felt better, but I am concerned as the bottle said to consult a physician. It didn't say why. Needless to say we are a little hesitant to try again. Please help!

It sounds as though you and your partner had a slight allergic response to something in the base of the jelly. This is not uncommon. The bottle said to consult a physician so that if the allergy were severe you could get medication for it. You might want to try another product which is more mild..for instance products like Astroglide or Slippery Stuff. You might also want to consult your local healthfood store for natural lubricants. Remember, if you are using condoms, any lubricant you use must be water soluable, so that it doesn't decrease the efficacy of the condom. Good Luck, newlyweds!Reviewed by Sexual Health Editorial Team
