Question:
hello the other night my girlfriend and i were having sex and i came inside her but i only left it in for like half the time so half of my "load" was on the sheets. she is on the pill but is there a chance that she could be pregnant? also she was coming at the same time i was, does that increase the chances of pregnancy, i'm a little confused on this matter so if you could clear it up for me that would be great. thank you

These are great questions and I will be glad to answer them. First, since she is on the Pill, which is 99%+ effective, there isn't much chance that she could get pregnant. It also doesn't matter if she has an orgasm during the experience in relation to pregnancy. An orgasm doesn't increase those chances at all. It is nice to know that you both are enjoying the sexual pleasures, since I get questions from so many that don't!
My only concerns for you two are in the area of sexually transmitted infections. There are so many out there and if either of you has had other partners in the past you might spread diseases to each other without even knowing it. That is why it is recommended that you always use a latex condom, or make sure that you have both been checked for all of the STDs. If you both haven't had any other partners, then this is not a concern. Even your "withdrawal" from her won't stop diseases from being spread because many don't spread from the semen/vaginal fluids but from genital to genital contact (herpes, warts are the most common to spread this way).
Feel free to write back and ask more questions if you have them.Reviewed by: Patricia Fawver Ph.D. in Sexology
