Question:
This is not actually a problem but I'm hoping you could give some advice. I am a social worker who would like to pursue a career in the area of sexual health counselling. Could you recommend educational programs, resources or contacts that would be helpful to me? Thanks

It just so happens that I am on a faculty of a University where there is a sexual health education degree program. We train professionals in education and counseling in sexual health. You can find out more by contacting our director Bill Stayton at william.r.stayton@widener.edu Widener is a small university outside of Philadelphia with a great social work program. We have a combined degree program Social Work/Sexuality or you can just take a Sexuality degree. You can also find information by going to widener.edu and then following the links to graduate offerings, school of Human Service Profssions, Center for Education, Doctorate (though we offer MEd degrees as well), areas of study, Human Sexuality Education. You can also find out a lot by going to www.ctrsr.org as the Center for Sexuality and Religion is supporting education efforts within the clergy. Please feel free to write back and ask more questions if you have any. Editors note: Check the Society for Scientific Study of Sexuality's website for a listing of the educational programs that offer training in Sexology. Patricia Fawver, Ph.D., editor
