Thanks for asking this question.
Depression can cause loss of sexual desire. Unfortunately, commonly used medications used to treat depression themselves can cause other sexual problems like erectile dysfunction (impotence) and inability to orgasm/climax. This, in turn, can make a depressed person more dejected and sorrowful. Has your boyfriend discussed these sexual matters with his doctor? He must talk regarding this so that the medication can be changed. Newer anti-depressants are much better and offer a better side effect profile. Instead of discontinuing the medication, you must persuade him to visit his doctor and broach the topic. I am sure his doctor will consider the difficulty and take appropriate action.
