Question:
I'm a 21 year old virgin male and lately I've been having a problem with something on...or in my penis. I'm not sure how long ago it was, but it seems like maybe 2 or 3 months ago (maybe more) I started feeling a slightly hard bump on the right side of my penis, right under the head, under the skin. It seems to be sticking out and I've also noticed a slight bend in my penis, the head seems to be pointing slightly to the left, but just a bit. I know for a fact that my penis has always been slightly curved upward, I don't know if that makes a difference in anything. The bump didn't seem to change much at first, erection or no erection. But lately I've noticed it being there and then when I'm fully erect, it seems to go away. And it seems to go away for a few minutes as soon as I ejaculate. But it always comes back. I have noticed it being smaller when my penis is not erect, but not by much. One time, I got an erection, I felt the bump and it seemed to be connected to a long, thick cord or vein of some sort that went around my penis, inside...then that quickly went away. It only happened once. Just yesterday I was masturbating and as I came closer to ejactulating, it started to hurt. Not really the bump, but my penis...inside, throughout. It felt like a straining or pulling sort of pain and now there seems to be a just a bit of pain all the time. As I said, I'm taking Xenecal and Adipex for weight loss, I, for a short time, took meridia along with that. I don't know if massive weight loss could have anything to do with it...I've lost almost 80 pounds so far and have quite a bit left to go. I also have a history of kidney stones, I've had many. I don't know if any of that has anything to do with it but just in case. I read somewhere online that it could be something caused by frequent, vigorous, sexual activity, but I don't know. I really don't know what to do, I'm afraid to go to a doctor, I would be SO uncomfortable, but I know I may have to. I just wish it would go away on it's own. Its starting to scare my boyfriend and myself quite a bit and I'm afraid it could effect our relationship. Any information, suggestions on what it may be would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hello and thank you for your question. I am very sorry to tell you, but no one will be able to give you a reliable diagnosis over the internet. I strongly urge you to see a doctor about your concerns. He or she will be able to provide you with proper medical advice and a diagnosis, whereas we cannot. I know this is an uncomfortable topic to talk to a doctor about, but your health is extremely important and I really urge you to take care of yourself. I am sure that you will find the discomfort of seeing a doctor to be much less than living with the discomfort and fear of a bump in your penis. Please take care, M. Scott Gross
