Question:
MY BOYFRIEND AND I USED TO HAVE A VERY HEALTHY AND ENJOYABLE SEX LIFE. WE WOULD HAVE SEX 3-6 TIMES A WEEK, SOMETIMES FOR HOURS AT A TIME. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO HE LOST HIS JOB, HIS BILLS GOT BEHIND AND HE LOST HIS APARTMENT. WE SPLIT UP FOR A BIT BUT NOW ARE TOGETHER AGAIN. HE HAS COMPLETELY LOST HIS SEX DRIVE. I HAVE TO TELL HIM I WANT TO MAKE LOVE, I HAVE TELL HIM I LOVE HIM, BRING OVER PORNO'S, I AM VERY PATIENT WITH THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM I THINK ITS DUE TO STRESS. HE SAYS THAT WHEN HE SEE'S SOMETHING THAT USED TO TURN HIM ON-HIS STOMACHE AND THIGHS STILL GET TINGLY BUT HIS PENIS HE SAYS IS NUMB. WE DO STILL HAVE SEX A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK, BUT IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP AN ERRECTION-ANY MOVEMENT OR THOUGHT OF SOMETHING NEGATIVE TOTALLY RUINS HIS ERRECTION.

It is not unusual for a man to experience erectile difficulties following the
type of set backs you described. Your patience seems to be a reasonable
approach. If there are no physical concerns or conditions that would explain
the sexual difficulty, many professional would agree that it would be wise to
get some counseling to help ease the anxiety about sex and circumstantial
worries that could be contributing to a cycle of attempts and sexual
difficulties.
