It is very likely that your hymen is bleeding after your boyfriend has fingered you. The hymen is a protective membrane covering parts of your vaginal opening. Next time it happens, take a mirror and find out where the blood is coming from. There is much information on a website called www.The-Clitoris.com (see the link on the right side of this page) about women’s anatomy, the hymen, first time intercourse, etc. I encourage you to read the information. It is normal to bleed a little bit after a finger or a penis initially has penetrated your vagina. But you should not bleed excessively. In this case you should see a physician. This should not affect your ability to have children in the future. Let me know if you have any further questions. Sincerely, Annette Owens, MD PhD
