Question:
I am not circumcised and i have a problem putting on condoms. I heard that i have to pull back my foreskin but i do not know how i can do it while holding the tip of the condom and putting it on the head of my penis. It has been difficult trying to have sex with my friend because of this.

Hello - thanks for writing in with your question. I do understand what you mean when you say you are having difficulty getting the condom on correctly while holding back your foreskin and holding the tip of the condom as well. Sometimes it can feel like a job that could use three or four hands rather than just two! Have you thought about enlisting your partner's help with this? There's no reason that safer sex/contraceptive practices can't be included in your sexual experience. This isn't something you have to feel awkward about. It can be part of the fun. And, certainly it can also be funny at times because it feels like you're fumbling around. That is natural, don't worry about it. All kinds of funny and awkward things happen sometimes in sex. I am wondering when you are putting the condom on. Are you trying to put it on when your penis is completely soft? Or, are you putting it on when your penis is partially hard or fully hard? It is much easier if you have a partial erection or more when putting a condom on. You can also experiment with this during masturbation until it gets easier to do. Also, you should know that condoms are sized differently - smaller, larger, etc. Also, some are slightly differently shaped - tapered, with ridges or without, etc. Why not buy a number of individual condoms of different brands and have yourself a little 'rubber party' to experiment with the different condoms and also get more accustomed to putting them on your penis. In no time, I am sure you'll be a pro. Have fun! Feel free to write back if you have any further questions. Thanks, Patty Fawver
