Question:
I was making out with my boyfriend pretty intensely but we both had our clothes on. He had on shorts (and underwear i am assuming) and i was wearing my underwear and shirt. I had my legs wrapped around his body and legs at different times, and i don't know if he come or not, so now i am worried on whether sperm got into me. i was also on my 3rd or 4th day into my period.

Does sperm go through your underwear? can it impregnant someone? when someone cum or pre-cum, is it obvious? will you know?

please help, i don't want to be pregnant by accident.

i am so worried, that i am thinking of never making out with anyone again.

thanks

What a great question and an opportunity for me to relieve your anxiety. First, the kind of making out you were doing is perfectly safe, and I hope that you don't lose that very close loving connection that you have with someone. It is really important to have intimate touching, loving and closeness. You don't have to worry about being pregnant unless you have sexual intercourse (penis into vagina, or at the opening to the vagina).

Sperm is actually very fragile. I know you didn't ask about it specifically, but it is important to any answer I give you. It is not able to come through clothing, it can't find its way into your body on its own and you aren't going to get pregnant from anything you do hugging, sitting on a lap, grinding, or anything you do like this with clothes on.

Even if your boyfriend had any precum, you may not know it because precum is only a small amount of semen that comes out during sexual arousal just before an ejaculation. It comes out so that it can clean out the urethra (the tube running through the penis)before a man ejaculates. See, sperm which is inside the semen can be killed by the acids that are in urine left in the tube after a man urinates. It doesn't take much to kill sperm, so the body tries to help the sperm stay alive more.

Actually there isn't much,if any, live sperm in precum either. So, even if there was some precum, which you probably don't feel through clothing, there is not a chance that you will get pregnant.

If he ejaculated and there was cum the sperm can't get through either. You may know if a man ejaculates because there is more fluid (semen) that may wetter the shorts/underwear but sperm can't swim through it. You also will be more likely to know because his body will respond to the ejaculation/orgasm with muscle releases, increased panting and heart rate; he may moan or make sounds that indicate he is having an orgasm, which also may mean an ejaculation of semen.

Still, sperm inside the semen, is fragile and cannot come through clothes.

I hope this helps you realize that there is much you can do to enjoy each other, and you don't have to fear pregnancy. In fact, I wish more couples would learn to do these kinds of very exciting and arousing things, and not focus on intercourse as the way to pleasure. For many, it isn't nearly as pleasurable as the making out!
