Question:
Once diagnosed with genital herpes does that mean one must wear a condom at all times regardless of non visible signs?

When an individual is infected with genital herpes, he/she must be weary of transmitting the virus to a sexual partner during both outbreak and inactive times. In trying to protect your partner, it would be wise to use a condom, though I must caution you that a condom is limited in the amount of protection it can provide since herpes can be spread via genital to genital or genital to anal contact, e.g., if your sore(s) is on a part of you that the condom does not cover. Herpes is most contagious during outbreaks and for 2 weeks after an outbreak. During those times, it is best to abstain from sexual activity entirely.
