Question:
URGENT HELP NEEDED!!! Recently myself and my girlfriend were enjoying ourselves in a river. Things began to get a little heated and i inserted my penis into her vagina but only for a little over 2 seconds. I was wondering if anyone could help me or put my mind to ease about this. What are the odds that she could fall pregant? Would the water in the river change the circumstances in any way??? Her period ended around 5 days ago, what would this mean? I'm extremely worried and unable to take my mind of it. Please someone help... Thankyou

Hello. I am assuming when you say her period ended five days ago, that you meant her period ended 5 days before your fun in the river. If your girlfriend is not on the pill and you didn't use a condom, there could be a chance of pregnancy from precum or pre-ejaculate. If you ejaculated (came) inside of her, the chance would be higher. I am not aware of any studies on pregnancy and intercourse in rivers, so it is not clear what effect the river water would have on conception. If the inserting of your penis was five days after her period ended, that would be about 10 days into her cycle, which may or may not be in her fertile period, depending on whether or not she has regular periods. Usually, ovulation occurs about 14 days before a woman's period begins, and the time frame just before ovulation is usually when a woman is most likely to get pregnant. There isn't much else I can do to ease your worries, except tell you to hang in there and hope for the best. You may want to discuss birth control methods with your girlfriend for future reference and peace of mind for both your sake. Hormonal based mothods of contraceptives, (the pill, the patch, Depo-Provera, IUD's and the ring) and offer the most effective barriers against pregnancy as well as being the most convenient to use. For more information on birth control methods and trying to find the best one for you and your partner, I would suggest visiting the Planned Parenthood website at www.plannedparenthood.org Talking to your girlfriend about your concerns would also be a healthy step for future choices that you can make together concerning this issue. Good luck and write back if you need to.
