Raven James, Ed.D.Speciality: Sexual self-esteem, Addictions, HIV/STI's View this expert's archive  Biography: Raven James is a sexuality researcher, professor, consultant and author. She has worked extensively in the drug and alcohol field, providing HIV and sexuality information and training to human service and addiction professionals and addicted persons. Her community-based experience includes case management to HIV+ persons in addiction and recovery, risk-reduction interventions, working with LGBT issues, gender identity, Hepatitis C, STI's, domestic violence and more. Raven is Master Trainer for the Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services in NYS (OASAS), and was certified as a Prevention Professional. She has lectured on such topics as Dying and Death, STD Counseling Issues, HIV Prevention, Domestic Violence in LGBT Relationships and LGBT Issues in Substance Abuse. Raven holds her doctorate in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University in Chester, PA. Her dissertation examined sexual self-esteem and women in substance abuse treatment. Raven is currently an Assistant Professor in the Masters of Addictions Program at Governors State University. She lives near Chicago, IL with her partner, horses, dogs and cats.
